Great Big Minnow

There are few places I would like to spend everyday of my summer fishing. Beaver Island would be right at the top of the list. There are more miles to fish and way more minnows than you'll ever catch in a lifetime.

Scumliner Media had a recent trip to the island with Indigo Guide Service and put together this short little video. Makes me think I am already there.

GEOBASS, Amazing

Just watched the full episode of GEOBASS and all I can say is amazing! It reminds me of the small streams and ponds I would push back into in teenage years all in the pursuit of fish. Places you could barely squeak a boat into through trees, over logs, and mud just to find a spot hardly ever fished to catch large bucket mouths. Getting permission from farmers (or not) to hick back through their land to some remote pond in search of big bluegill. Yeah, this is in a different country and I did not have coke cartels to deal with but rock salt wasn't any fun either. Gotta do something like this one day!

Fly Fishing Film Tour at Indy

The Fly Fishing Film Tour will be coming to Indy on March 23rd. The showing will be at the Jazz Kitchen at 5377 North College Avenue. Warmwater Chronicles will be making a donation to the show as well as all proceeds from the show go to Project Healing Waters. PHW is a great organization that helps our wounded vets get their lives back on track through fly fishing. There is plenty of parking and the end of March is a great time to come out and get fired up for the coming fishing season.

Jen Ripple on Midwest Outdoors

Jen Ripple (of Dun Magazine fame) teamed up with Grab Your Fly Charters this past fall for an episode on Midwest Outdoors and the great Smallmouth Bass fishing on the Kankakee River. It's nice to see folks you know fishing waters you are familiar with. Plus, Jen manages to catch one really nice smallie.

I myself have been catching Northern Pike on a fly for years. I still find it amazing when people are surprised that I am catching 40" plus fish on a fly rod. Whatever.

Jake Forsline has put together a nice video on just how much fun this fish are on a fly rod. If you haven't target Northerns yet on a fly rod then grab your 8wt, some wire leader material and some long "meaty" flies and go get you some. The take are some of the best of any species. Well worth the time to get one on the hook.
